Katherine Moennig as Shane McCutcheon

Shane McCutcheon, a sexually aggressive hairstylist, stood out due to her extreme personality and sexual appetite. Reported to have slept with some 1,000 people, McCutcheon is a talented stylist but a walking time bomb when it comes to relationships; more often than not, sabotaging them to justify her own self-loathing. McCutcheon ruined her own wedding, met her long-lost father and met a brother she never knew. Despite sending several relationships to their grave due to her own neuroses, she discovered her maternal instincts and attempted to take in and raise her brother on her own, as well as the son of a woman with whom she becomes involved. McCutcheon’s storyline was among the most engaging of the show’s many plot threads

Shane is so hot haha! i love her hairstyles too! except the ones in season one where its kinda too long for me.

I didnt have any favourites when I watched season 1 and 2 for the first time.. Maybe Dana because I used to play tennis and I'm shy like her aswell, so I could identify with her.. And then when I watched for the second time I became an Alice fan, she's hilarious, I just love her.. I never cared for Shane at all, especially not in season 1, I thought she was weird clown

The corner of Cypress and York was humming with activity and beautiful ladies last Friday morning. That's because the television series The L Word was filming outside a condo building called The Yorkville. It's the show that traces the leanings and loves of a group of gay or bisexual women and how their families and others react to them.

The workers on set seemed to do a lot of fiddling with actress Kate Moennig's clunky boots. They didn't seem happy with the way they encountered her slow-slung jeans. Moennig has that eclectic, rumpled-in-a-nice-sort of way look about her.

The actress, who likes to play gender-bending roles, plays the ultra androgynous Shane McCutcheon. Over and over in the scene, the Philadelphia-born Moennig, who is a first cousin to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, clomped over to the intercom to be let in.

Now in its fifth season, the show has featured actresses Jennifer Beals (Flashdance, 1983), Leisha Hailey (singer k.d. lang's old flame), Laurel Holloman, Mia Kirshner, Pam Grier, Erin Daniels, Rachel Shelley, Sarah Shahi, Dallas Roberts and Daniela Sea.
